Is a combination of Huxley’s and Orwell’s future coming true? (#killswitch)

Killswitch

It was once hard to imagine a world like either of the ones described in 1984 or Brave New World. There were logistical and technological challenges that made the censorship and control of information pretty much impossible.

Today, it’s more than possible. It would be easy. It also may be happening, if you were to believe the assertions by the makers of #killswitch, the documentary. Even here, we’ve discussed why the Internet kill switch is a bad idea.

The infographic and video below make the claim that we’re potentially seeing A Brave New 1984 unfolding before our eyes. Do you think we’re really that close to the end of informational freedom, or are we simply correcting an over-openness that emerged with the mass adoption of the internet?

  1. I cant belive what they thray to do.
Can not be stoped samehow, is insine.
We have to do something about that I cant just lean back and watch all this happend Dammit.

  2. Having read Neil Postman’s Amusing Ourselves To Death in college, I was of a mind that America was committed to the Huxley future, but tragically, since the Bush 43 team seized power and implemented their dirty business, it seems the Orwell future (aided and abetted by the Objectivists) is demonstrating a resurrection that would put Lazarus to shame.
