All of this now fits in your pocket

30 Years

Technology is amazing and we all know it. What we may forget or even take for granted is that there was a time around thirty years ago when we needed dozens of different devices to do the things that we do with our current smartphones.

As they put it at Gather, “The smartphone that’s currently sitting in your pocket right now is hundreds of times more powerful than the massive computer components that once filled entire rooms.”

Now we have to wonder what will fit in our pockets thirty years from today.

  1. I think the question itself changes. Not “what will be in our pockets in 30 years” but “what do we use now that will ultimately be implanted in us.”

  2. Yeah but for some things it’s good to have a different device.  Take for instance a keyboard, it’s hard to type on my phone.  Some games it’s hard to play on a cellphone also.

  3. Missed opportunity.  Should also be a huge early model brick cell phone to compliment that big.ass VHS camcorder.  I don’t see a stand alone GPS in that picture anywhere either.  What else is it missing?  Enjob.

    1.  Also missing:  Game Boy, pager, telegraph (replaced by sms), modem, movie projector (there are a couple of phones with pico projectors in them)
