ZURB acquires a design and development community to focus on detailed design feedback

ZURB acquires Forrst

The well-known company that provides helpful apps and tools for designers and web developers, ZURB has recently acquired Forrst, a community for designers and developers. A perfect match since the two targets each other’s demographic and both serve to help you enhance your craft.

If you are unfamiliar with Forrst, it was a former 500startup company and previously acquired by ColourLovers. Today, Forrst is an established community of designers, developers and engineers and originally founded by Kyle Bragger, who has raised a total of $205K in venture funding. Investors in Forrst’s seed round ($205K / CrunchBase) included investments from 500 Startups, Nate Westheimer, Adam Schwartz, Jim Sokoloff, Sahil Lavingia, Gary Vaynerchuk and AJ Vaynerchuk. Now with the acquisition of ZURB, Forrst will excel even further with the promise to fulfill the following.

* We will actively listen, participate, and foster the site to build a strong, active Forrst community.

* With a suite of design apps, a top-20 open-source framework (Foundation) and over 15 years of product design experience, we’re excited to lead the Forrst community forward to achieve great things. We’ll start by streamlining the site interface and implementing responsive design for the mobile web.

* We’ll iterate upon and add new Forrst features to help designers and developers collaborate easily and effectively. The invite system will shift to reward users who make consistent, high-quality contributions to the site.

ZURB has also included the Dribbble Differentiation and Behance Differentiation

Dribbble Differentiation

Dribbble empowers designers to share their visual design work and concepts easily with others. However, we’ve found that Dribbble isn’t an ideal place to get detailed, constructive feedback on design.

Our community will provide detailed and applicable feedback which designers can use to not only improve designs, but increase design expertise, build strong relationships with community members and ultimately become better at their craft.

Behance Differentiation

Behance allows designers to share design work with potential employers and establish a professional identity. While it’s a great and important business concept, constructive feedback is often overlooked.

Forrst’s purpose now will be focused on feedback; ZURB will be removing the job board so its users can participate in detailed design feedback and align design with personal and business goals. If you are a developer, engineer or designer, Forrst is sure to become a social hub for you to gain even more knowledge and connect further with like-minded people.
