Kinect is not an NSA spying tool

There’s a fine line between crazy conspiracy theories and real concerns, especially given the revelation of the extent that the US government is spying on people. In this case, Microsoft quashes one particular conspiracy theory about its Kinect motion sensor system.

A senior Microsoft executive has downplayed speculation that Kinect could be used as an advertising platform, where a user’s emotional state and response could be captured and sent to the advertiser, or as a device that captures video information without permission.
