It has been a few days since Android 4.4.4 KitKat arrived on stock Nexus devices, and this can only mean one thing – that there will be the same update introduced to other Android-powered devices in due time, and true enough, we have seen the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition be on the receiving end of the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. This continues in the tradition (so far) that Google Play edition devices tend to be the fastest among the commercially available lot to obtain the most recent updates from Google. If you happen to own an LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition but have yet to see a glimpse of the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update, fret not.
Google has been quiet about the Android 4.4.3 update to the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition, and now it looks like both LG and Google are skipping that Android update in favor of jumping to the newer Android 4.4.4 revision. At this time, the update is hitting the Google Play edition as GPe devices usually are among the fastest to get the latest updates from Google. The update will be staggered so it may not be hitting your devices just yet so you may have to wait a few days until it hits your unit. You do have to run at least Android 4.4.2 on your LG G Pad 8.3 GPe to be able to install the Android 4.4.4 update. Both the Android 4.4.3 and Android 4.4.4 updates belong in the KitKat family and are considered incremental upgrades so you shouldn’t notice any new features off the bat. Many of the changes will be under the hood in terms of bug fixes and performance improvements. Are you seeing this update on your LG G Pad 8.3 GPe? If so, how is the upgrade process for you? Let us know if you have any troubles in the comments.
