Cord cutting is easier than ever thanks all of the streaming services out there, but which of these services do American’s use the most? According to Nielsen, Netflix is the king of streaming by a long shot, unsurprisingly, with around 36% of all households in the United States subscribing to the service. Amazon Prime Instant Video is a distant second at 13% and Hulu Plus is an even more distant third with less than 7%.

Let’s face it, there are a lot of ways to watch video at home: TV, cable, on-demand, rentals, and of course, streaming. According to the latest stats from Nielsen, Netflix is the most popular way to stream your favorite shows and movies, with about 36 percent of U.S. households subscribing. Quite a bit behind that is Amazon Prime Instant Video at 13 percent, with Hulu Plus pulling in at just 6.5 percent. About 27.8 percent of all U.S. households subscribe to a single SVOD service, Nielsen said, while 10 percent go for two, and only a mere 2.6 percent have access to three at once. About 40 percent of homes in the U.S. even have access to a subscription video on-demand service (SVOD). Around 35 percent have broadband Internet service but no SVOD, and nearly one-fourth have no broadband service whatsoever—a prerequisite for any kind of video-streaming service.
