It’s been a year since Xiaomi launched the Mi TV 2, a smart television with the premium feel and astonishingly low price that has made Xiaomi so ridiculously popular in China, and now the device’s success is about to be released. According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the new smart television will be announced next week and will come in two different versions, the smaller of which will feature a full_HD display while the larger one comes with a 4K screen.

Xiaomi launched its ridiculously affordable Mi TV 2 last May in China for the equivalent of $640, and the manufacturer is set to unveil a newer model later this month. Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun shared an image on social networking website Weibo that a new Mi TV will be announced on March 24. This time around, it looks like Xiaomi may launch two models of the Mi TV, a smaller-sized TV with a full-HD display and a larger variant with a 4K screen. While the vendor did not officially confirm that there will be two models, Xiaomi is running a poll on the dedicated landing page for the event, asking users whether they think full-HD is practical, or whether they’d like to see 4K. Xiaomi’s Mi TV models offer incredible hardware for the price — with the current-gen Mi TV 2 coming with a 49-inch 4K display, quad-core MediaTek MStar 6A918 CPU, Mali-450 MP4 GPU, 2GB RAM, 8GB storage, microSD card slot and the vendor’s MIUI ROM — all in a package that has a thickness of just 15.5mm.
