Cyanogen promises to continue supporting the OnePlus One in India

Androidcentral

Earlier this week, a blog post from OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei had us worried the device wouldn’t be able to run Cyanogen software in India, but it looks like that won’t be the case. In an update from Cyanogen, the company promised to keep supporting all OnePlus One units, even those in India. “We wanted to address a couple points of inaccurate information that have come out over the past week,” Cyanogen wrote. “We had not commented earlier as we believe in treating our partners and users with the utmost respect.”

Cyanogen took to its own blog to clarify some misinformation that it would be dropping support for the OnePlus One. After it was inaccurately reported that the OnePlus One won’t be getting future firmware updates through CyanogenMod, the company is stating that this is false and that Cyanogen will continue to push out firmware updates to all global devices. “We are proud of the work we did on the OnePlus One. Through our collaboration with OnePlus, we demonstrated the power of strong hardware and software tuned for exceptional performance. To clarify misinformation out there, the OnePlus One will get OTA firmware updates for all global devices, including global devices for our users in India. Rather than have misinformation continue to circulate out there, we felt it important to bring this matter to rest.” The confusion occurred when Micromax announced an exclusive partnership with CyanogenMod for India through the company’s YU line of smartphones.
