Facebook Literally Shows You The Door

Oh, hey, that was slick, Facebook. Go to your account, guys. Right now. New tab. Check out your account options. Notice anything different? Facebook rolls stuff out slowly, so maybe you don’t. If you’re one of the lucky few, you may have noticed that Facebook has quietly added the option to delete your account, changing ‘Deactivate Account’ to ‘Deactivate or Delete Account’. Fancy that. It raises some questions, though, not the least of which is: why give us this option now? It’s not like Facebook is still facing bad press from the privacy snafu. You don’t like deleting our data, Facebook. Why give us the choice? And that’s another thing: are you… really going to delete our data? For real? Promise? In all seriousness, though, we’ve always had the option to delete our accounts. Facebook’s just never been so… forward and honest about it. Perhaps a change of face(book)? Wouldn’t that be nice. I guess today’s the day we finally take the plunge and shut down our accounts, guys. Who’s with me? You’re all coming, right? No? Alright, yeah, me neither. Maybe just a couple more weeks.

  1. I’m sorry but this is not a new feature.. The ‘new feature’ is that the button is visible now, before it wasn’t.

  2. It will be interesting to see how many people use this new “feature”. I know a lot of people are irritated with Facebook over privacy issues.
