Hey Geek, My Laptop’s Tougher Than Yours

You need a computer you can take anywhere, a laptop designed for life on the site or the road. You need it to be shock-resistant, but you want it to have power. For you, good news, with Panasonic today updating some of the models in its Toughbook laptop range. The Toughbook CF-52 now runs on the Intel Core i5 (up to 2.53GHz) processor and includes 2GB RAM and up to a 250GB shock-mounted hard drive. It also has a bevy of wireless connectivity options. We like that this machine’s been drop and spill-tested and features a magnesium alloy case (with a weird-looking but sturdy carry handle). There’s even an overhead keyboard light for those SWAT team missions. Toughbook CF-T8 gets a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Processor with vPro technology (3MB L2 cache and 800MHz FSB) and a removable 250GB shock mounted flex-connect hard drive. It runs Win 7 Professional, or XP. Wireless options once again abound on this computer, which features a 12.1-inch LCD screen and more. Panasonic ships these systems with a 3-year warranty with a 96-hour repair commitment and a 5-year spare parts guarantee.

  1. I have a toughbook CF-51. Its a few years old and weighs a lot, but I love it. I have dropped it out of the family van onto concrete with no ill effects. Try doing that with a netbook or macbook.
