iPad Rumored To Be Getting OLED Screen

The iPad has only been out for a while but there are already rumors of a new version in the works. According to a rumor on DigiTime, Apple is hoping to add an OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen to the next version of the iPad that will use the same design concept as the iPhone 4G. This might seem like a cool idea right now but it will probably up the price of the iPad. DigiTime says that the cost of OLED panels will drop by 2011 but there is no guarantee to this. Research senior analyst Mingchi Kuo said that the price for the 9.7-inch LCD panel for iPad is about US$60-70, whereas the price for a 9.7-inch OLED panel would be about US$500. The second version of the iPad with OLED is rumored to come out sometime next year. Sources: SlashGear, DigiTimes

  1. Mini OLED iPad?…You mean the new iPhone4 ? No thanks, they already released it and it doesn’t work. 😛

  2. How good iPad is for reading e-books since it has back light? What is the readability versus regular e-book readers?
