John Mellencamp Hates The Internet!

Shocking though it might be, Good Ole’ Boy John Mellencamp hates the internet, despises iPods and tortures kittens in his spare time.

Okay, he doesn’t strictly despise iPods, but the kitten torturing part is absolute fact.

In an interview with the Globe and Mail, Mellencamp waxes moronic on a number of subjects relating to technology.

He states that the internet is the most dangerous invention since the atom bomb, although I’m personally pretty sure that you couldn’t really watch much porn on an atom bomb at all.

Mellencamp also states that the internet has destroyed the music industry, which is technically true, although he’s a little late to the RIAA’s 2001 party on this one.

Another gem was his comparison of the Beatles remastered CD to the same songs played on an iPod.

“you could barely even recognize it as the same song. You could tell it was those guys singing, but the warmth and quality of what the artist intended for us to hear was so vastly different.”

The ridiculous comments ironically coincide with the release of his new album, “No Better Than This” in stores and as a digital download.

Mellencamp’s comments embody the record industry’s utter lack of understanding or tolerance for any point of view that doesn’t allow them to sell their products over and over to the same people.

  1. It’s a trap!! Saying you hate the internet is a pretty smart way to get popular on the internet. I think he knows exactly what he’s doing. It’s also pretty easy to research, compare and buy better audio equipment on the internet if that’s something you are into. Fun fact 12% of the internet will not be able to complete the math necessary to post a comment, this is probably the same percent of people that believe Mr. Mellencamp actually tortures kittens in his spare time.

  2. I do partly agree with him about quality of audio coming from iPod. But the quality is no better on a CD. Vinyl held true sound, everything post that went downhill. Someone invent a vinyl burner and all music enthusiasts will be happy.
