Meet Google Earth On Steroids

It’s called Google Earth Engine, and it is Google’s attempt to better the world through scientific research. Users are free to explore this data right in their browser, and there is much more data on the way. So what is Google Earth Engine? Well, in Google’s words, they sum it up like this:
Google Earth Engine brings together the world’s satellite imagery—trillions of scientific measurements dating back more than 25 years—and makes it available online with tools for scientists, independent researchers, and nations to mine this massive warehouse of data to detect changes, map trends and quantify differences to the earth’s surface.It all boils down to the desire for data. Researchers and scientists can use data from the past to make better predictions for our future. So, who knows, maybe this whole Global Warming thing is simply a myth? And maybe it will lead to a better five-day weather forecast (but I’m skeptical about that)!

odd that G spends soo much time on these new projects whilst their main search function is getting worse and worse.

I think that global warming is real, but perhaps we’ve been looking in the wrong places. Perhaps we should be focusing deforestation as a number one priority. I know, deforestation is so 80’s but scientists have been warning people about it for a long time.
