Until recently, Russia didn’t have a strong 4G network. Now that they do, you won’t be able to use it if you have a new iPhone.

Russian carriers began official sales of Apple Inc.’s iPhone 5s and 5c on Friday, but buyers won’t yet be able to use the phones on the country’s quickest 4G network.

Russia is not listed on Apple’s website as a country where 4G is available. Apple is blocking major Russian telecoms companies from allowing the new models access to 4G networks, a person in the industry said, confirming a report in Russian daily Vedomosti.
