Sharp Planning To Punch You In The Eye with 3D Phones This Year

You may or may not have heard of the Nintendo 3DS. You may or may not have heard that one of the manufacturers rumoured to be supplying the 3DS with its 3D screen is Sharp. Seriously, though, if you haven’t heard these things, you’re completely out of the loop and, frankly, have got to get your act together. But anyway, yeah, Sharp: makers of personal 3D tech. As it turns out, the 3DS isn’t the only device on the horizon. A Sharp representative has confirmed that the company – famous for its… I dunno, Sharp makes calculators? They also make TVs. They’re famous for that, right? I dunno, I have a 27-inch CRT I found on the side of the road – will be releasing a no-glasses 3D smartphone by the end of the year, reports Reuters. As in, 2010. As in, real soon. And that’s rad. Sharp hasn’t exactly been a battle-hardened gladiator in the smartphone arena as of yet – their previous effort was the Kin, and we all know how that went. But with 3D on its side, Sharp may have a real ace up its sleeve. But it makes you wonder: what good would 3D be on a smartphone anyway? Y’know, like, besides gaming?

  1. As someone who can’t see 3D I do not like the 3D product phenomenon that is currently upon us. I honestly hope it does take off, who wants to wear those dumb looking glasses any way.
