The future of accessorizing

Wearable Tech

Wearable tech is launching us in to the space age with some serious Jetsons level gear. Technology is no longer merely an extension of our bodies; it is in fact one with our bodies. Measuring our heart rate, steps we take, and how long we run for is the first step into our transformation as cyborgs. But wait, there’s more!

The popularity of step-counting, heart-rate-measuring, plastic bracelets is continuing to grow. People are picking them up and slapping them on their wrists faster than ever, all with the hopes that it will encourage them to get in shape. After all, how else are you going to know if you walked enough on a certain day? Developers are seeing the impact these have on the public and some cool new armbands have been released with features that we haven’t seen before. The Sony Core allows you to log pretty much anything from your music to movies to weather to locations that all connects to the Lifelong app on your smartphone.

If bracelets aren’t your thing the Lumo Lift might be for you. It clips onto the user’s shirt via a strong magnet and is with you every step of your day. It measures not only your steps and distance, but also your posture. It buzzes when you slouch and sends reports and suggestions to your phone about how you can improve.

Take a look at this infographic for more on what is up and coming in the world of wearable tech.

  1. I believe the Fitbit Force has been recalled due to users complaining it broke them out in a rash. You can still get the Flex though.
