The Most Social-Media Savvy Company Is… Not Who You’d Think

Which company is the most social-media savvy? It’s not Apple. It’s not Twitter. It’s not Google. It’s not even Facebook. Of all the companies analyzed, the company that came out on top was Microsoft! Shocking, right?

NetProspex, a marketing and contact database provider, surveyed over 100,000 executives at Fortune 1000 companies in the first quarter of 2010, and they found that many of the companies that we would expect to rank high in social media usage were there: primarily software development companies.

However, the interesting part, as you might have noticed, is the fact that Microsoft, of all these companies, is the leader in social media usage. As an outsider who hasn’t worked for Microsoft, it is quite easy to paint a picture of Microsoft as being a serious work environment where everything is locked-down, but it is turning out to be the complete opposite.

Either way, it is nice to know that corporations are opening the doors to more communication with the customers.

Be sure to check out the rankings and read the full report if you want all the details.
