Worlds Collide and Confirm Classic Videogames Will Always Kick Ass

People of Techi, I have a confession: I’ve been keeping something from you. I’ve been hiding something wonderful, and the guilt is simply too much to bear any longer. I’ve got to get this off my chest, and into your hands.

That sounds kind of gross.

Anyway, Super Mario Bros is inarguably the most famous videogame of all time (actually, maybe it’s Pac-Man. I’m totally just guessing). Nevertheless, SMB has been the subject of countless tributes over the years, and this thing what I done been hiding from you is possibly the greatest of them all.

Enter Super Mario Crossover, a complete recreation of the original game, with a brilliant twist: You can play as a multitude of characters from other classic videogames, including Mega Man, Link, Samus Aran, and even Bill-goddam-Rizer from Contra. Talk about manly.

The truly brilliant part of this tribute is that creator ExplodingRabbit has gone to great pains to recreate the physics and play control of each character’s respective game, creating a truly classic experience. You can’t afford not to play this.

So go. Play this. tell ’em I sent you.

Actually, don’t tell them that. They’ll think you’re weird.

  1. Ha! great game…

Me and my little cousin played it for about two hours yesterday. Too bad there’s no flash on the iPad, it would be a great game for it if he could get it past all the red tape.
