Yahoo continues its media expansion with acquisition of Cooliris

Cooliris, the company known for building photo app products like CoolPreviews, PicLens, Android Gallery, LiveShare, and most recently BeamIt, announced yesterday that it has been acquired by Yahoo. A statement from the Cooliris team on its website says: “Yahoo has a clear vision and unwavering commitment to making mobile an intuitive and effortless experience. This makes Yahoo the perfect partner for Cooliris, and we are excited to come together to bring indispensable products to a worldwide audience.”

Millions of people capture photos with their smartphones and then share those photos across an array of social networks and photo sharing services. Cooliris is an app that brings all those photos to one location to make it easier for you to discover and enjoy those photos. Cooliris announced that it was just acquired by Yahoo and will continue to work on enhanced photo experiences as a part of Yahoo. “Cooliris is passionate about creating fast, fluid mobile experiences for content and communication – as exemplified by our newest product, BeamIt.
